I was surfing panoramio and found a wind farm photo

Makes the Australian wind farms look like hobby farms.

It must be a good site.

Was this the wind farm described on the 4Corners show last year?

Sweeeeeeeeet

That area must have some serious desert winds.
If I lived near there, I'd take long walks among
the turbines

My guilty pleasure is paying a visit to Windy Hill
Wind Farm Ravenshoe North Queensland AU. Just love
the way you can SEE mega watts of electricity going
into the grid - tis all good :-)

about time australia took up the turbines seriosly, on a recent visit back home to UK there are heaps just off the coast(east anglica) all sitting in the sea,
but were too busy selling green coal to the world, what a laugh

were willing too spend billions on selling "green coal"
to the world and aussies, but wont invest in our kids future. i herd from a local in albant WA that there closing down the wind farm down there as the maintenence is too expencive haha what a joke, i do work for downer and western power installing there transfer stations, and my bro has worked for the major powerstations in collie WA as service tec and you should see the maintenence budget. i just dont understand there thinking, anyway thats my opinion like it or not

As an economic thing trying to keep our coal customers to keep buying Australian coal will be good for the economy in the short term.

In the long term climate change will make coal very costly but this cost is not born by the coal mines. This is called an externality in economic terms. (Who pays for climate change)

Australia is not in the position to make lots of money from renewables.

But we do have lots of coal and uranium to sell.

Just about 20 miles from me is a 454 660kW Vestas wind turbine wind farm on the washington / oregon border.

here is a picture when they were being built.

Its one of the largest in the world. I think it looks cool. not an eyesore at all.
