I was given a small petrol sine wave generator with a stuffed motor, seized with only 15 hours on it.

Was thinking of salvaging the inverter, I have no idea of what its input voltage would be.

I have no info on the unit as someone else had already removed its covers so I dont even have a brand name or id plate.

The inverter is encapsulated but was wondering if it is possible to feed it with a DC sourse across the correct points of the 3 phase rectifier?

It is usually the inverter that fails, can you post any pictures?

It has been through 3 lots of hands before I got it, the supposed issue was a broken starter and the guy I got it from repaired that and got about 3 pulls before it broke again, I pulled the starter of it and turned it by hand, as the piston goes up it gets very rough and tight to turn over and I suspect it was run without adding the oil.

One I purchased came with a very small amount of oil but was way low and nearly caught me.

I am looking at the plug that has 1 red and thre Black wires that go to what looks like the input with the big caps near it

I have got 2 with dead inverters, they are 3.7KW with 125cc engine.

I have seen one where the cam lobes were worn away due to casting sand in the top of the head. Edited by Madness 2018-01-01

sand that will help with quality lol

any idea on what voltages they pump into these things?

This one is only about 1.2kw or slightly smaller going by the size comparison to the one I bought a while back.

I suppose I could start at 12v and work my way up and see what happens?

the worst that can happen is I let the smoke out

It would produce about 350V, if the Inverter is working I would think your best bet would be to sell it and put the money towards something more useful.
