Hello, Does it matter a lot how I connect DC breakers? I was doing some research for a redesign of my off grid powersystem. Turns out it does matter, so I need to turn it all upside down again in my head. Hi Nickelnick, Yes, when Solar installations were sort of new , they bought out some DC breakers that disconnected both positive and negative lead. Was a bit confusing as they had + and - symbols at the top and bottom of the individual breakers. So the installer had to figure out which way the current flowed ... I downloaded from the net some fairly easy to understand wiring diagrams, if it helps you. (All to do with quenching the ARC that occurs in DC disconnect , with supposedly small rare earth magnets fixed adjacent to the breaker contacts) never did pull one apart ,but if someone has , post a picture, please. I'm still using mine , and have not had any problems(that I'm aware of ) ... So, read up all about them and try to digest how they tell you to connect . Bruce Bushboy |
