Hi,

Does anyone know what this component is? It's from an old Braun flash unit. I can't find a datasheet or a service manual for it. Fet? Thyristor? Triac?

Ok, I found something on ebay

Thyristor. Should have looked first for a second time

It will be a SCR. Gate and cathode are marked so the middle pin is the anode.
At a guess the 250 is the voltage rating.

Possible substitutes might be C106D1, C122E, BT151.
