Hello, can you please confirmthe following
i have a new car baterry 12 volt 830 amp and 95ah
i run garden led lights. all light together draw 2.5 amp
so that would be 10 amp in 4 hour
should i devide the 95ah by 10 to see how many days i can have them on for or is it the 830 devided by 10 amp a day?
maybe an easy question for you all, but I am still learning lol
thank you

830Amps sounds like the cranking current, so you don't want that.
So, 95Amps divided by 10A. Also, that 95Amp/hour rating is determined by the amount of current drawn, keywords discharge rate.
Also, search Battery University

Hi Irishron
If you use the full 95 AH your battery will be fully discharged and that causes sever sulphation a few cycles at 100% discharge will reduce the capacity of your battery and a lot will destroy it.
As a rule of thumb with lead acid batteries to get a good life out of them it is wise to only discharge to 35 % of capacity so in your case only a bit over 30 AH and then fully recharge. That is on your figures 12 hours, so you would need t fully recharge daily to get a reasonably long life out of your battery.
All the best

thx bob. i might need to get a better dc motor that gives out more amp. we dont have continious winds here. it might give me 14 volts for 4 seconds and then wind drops again.

Hi Irishron
You may do better to invest in a solar cell as the sun is more reliable than the wind but the wind is a good backup.
