Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

I have been using Gigavac's GX series contactors for years to switch panel banks and heavy DC loads in 48 volt systems.
I am wondering if I could do a home made mosfet alternative to reliably switch 100-180 amp DC. I was looking at a controller that was bulk charging a battery at 90 amps the other day and thought to myself " the fans are running but it doesn't seem to producing that much heat"
I had a bit of a rummage around and found a DC motor drive circuit that uses enhanced mode Power MOSFETS to switch between (p channel)forward and (N channel)reverse.
After that I got a bit lost looking at spec sheets and gave up.
any ideas! comments? I'm confused, no wait... maybe I'm not...
