Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

I found a bag of 10uF/50V non polarised electrolytic caps among the bits & pieces in my shed and wonder if these are OK for the filter caps on the IR2110's and for general 5V power line filtering? Somebody mentioned tantalums are no good for that application and as I have not used non polarised electrolytics before I want to be sure. They measured exactly 10.0uF and have a nice 105 deg C rating as well as being physically of similar size then the polarised 10uF/25V types. ThanksKlaus

non polarized are just two normal caps in series... ie two 20uf electro's in series... so should behave exactly the same chemically I would expect.
