I have a 415V to 240V star-delta transformer rated for 25kVA and was wondering if this could be used for an inverter build with relatively minimal changes...

Thought is that each of the 415V coils (if they are on the inside layer) is wired in series as the 235V side and then a few turns of the 240V are taken off and used in parallel to create a 29V side ?

Would this work ?

The weight is 255kg on the case label, I had a brief lapse of the reality of physics when I thought that was heavy for a bag of cement (25kg) when moving it around on a sack barrow.. simpsons moment.

Unfortunately I don't have any pictures inside of the case, never though I needed any until now and wondered if it could be a monster sized inverter build... with relativelty low core losses due to a very low magnetizing flux level ?

Now this is an appreciable device.

I will be interested to see what you end up doing with this.

I have a 1500VA multi tapped primary E-I transformer that weighs 35kg.
That's just a tiddler compared with yours.

Hey keep us updated on this lots of us have thought about using three phase Transformers

If it's too big you can unwind it and make it smaller by taking laminated sheets away slamming me up against the

Thinking about this, at 25Kva, each 415v winding will carry 8.33Kva or 20.0 amps.

If you run one 415v winding at 240V it can still only carry 20 amps which is 4.8Kva.

Try connecting up just the middle 415v winding to 240v, and measure the magnetizing current.
