A pair of toroids that size will still make a nice honest little inverter

I haven't seen one of those solvent press-down dispensing pot thingies he used since my training days over 50 years ago. Nice hot soldering iron as well.

Yes, the toroids were a sight for sore eyes so to speak

I had to go look to see what you were talking about. I have two of those that live on my bench and still get used every day. I didn't realise they were that old  ...  though thinking about it, I bought them about 40 years ago from WES Components in Sydney.

A friend told me about some more new ones in a reject shop somewhere and he bought them for me  ...  and they're still sitting in the cupboard waiting for the others to wear out.
