When charging a battery would it not also be very interesting to check the "at rest" voltage, i.e., not being charged voltage?

This would mean the unloading of the mill, short enough not to overspeed the mill.

Or is it a simple fact that, as per specification, at about 14 VDC whilst charging, the battery will definitely have an at rest voltage of 12.5V??

It would take some time for the battery voltage to settle to the "at rest" voltage, several minutes at least I think.

Unfortunately we cant judge the state of charge by referencing the charge voltage, a higher charge voltage will increase the charge current but that would be influenced by the internal resistance of the battery that would vary with age.
