Hi , I have a Sigmotek ITC_3 frequency counter from Sigmotek international corporation.

I would like a manual or some advice about it ...

I purchased it from a ham fest without any signal sniffer(I guess thyat is what I could roughly call that sort of attachment. Is there a simple circuit out there that i could build to sniff ,say Amateur/cb radio frequency,s.. It's in good condition ,shows some frequency on the readout if i attach a piece of jumper wire into the bnc input and twiddle the range knobs.. It cost about $20 ,,so it's not a big issue.

Thanks Larny,,

I'll try those sites . Sort of think it's a bnc connected sniffer/aerial type thingo. Must be something simple with a blocker rf in there ,so it only gets a sniff of signal -there/s a bnc out/in socket on the front ,so it must have come with one many moons ago before I got it .

I can sort of get a frequency of sorts if I attach a piece of jumper wire to the center pin of the bnc .

You could use a Cro probe to connect to the BNC connector as that is standard to most Cro"s and is what i use.

Sometimes it just works

yep, thanks Pete, never thought of that --I'll give it a try ,,let you know ...

did get a Cct from dk mods many moons ago , never got around to trying it ,,could go back,revisit ,if I can find it.

Back in the day when I was servicing cordless phones, a very handy attachment I made not only for the frequency counter but also the scope, was a simple L/C tuned circuit with the capacitor being variable. Low PF capacitor coupled it to the coax lead with a BNC plug. Google 'Field strength meter circuit' and you will have a cluster of ideas that can be adapted for the frequencies you are chasing.
