Hi all again I have a f&P micro hydro genny connected to bridge rectifiers which will then feed a mppt controller for 12v battery charging, the question is does the bridge rectifier setup act like a blocking diode to stop current from going from batteries via the charge controller back to the genny or do I need to put another diode inline after the bridge rectifiers and if so any suggestions on which one. Thanks

The bridge will act as a blocking diode between battery and generator. One of the few times a blocking diode is used is to prevent a dump load discharging the batteries when the generator load is diverted to dump. For a hydro system there is most likely no need for a dump load as to disconnect the geny from the batteries would not really hurt anything because it is not likely to runaway in overspeed like a windmill will.Sometimes it just works
Thanks Downwind thats all I need to know, and yes because of limited head on the hydro plant the unloaded rpm is acceptable so I am not running a dump load.
