Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Hi all,
Aldi in WA sold (Specials 23/9)an "Active Energy" SLA 12V/38Ah deep cycle VRLA and AGM type for $100.00. I have been given a 36V UPS and I am wondering if there is a mismatch between the type of SLAs (unknown) it used to come with and the absorbed glass mat type Aldi is selling?
Would there be a lot of mismatch between voltages (float, etc.) between those SLA types?

This is never a great entrance, I'm not an expert but..
I'd be confident those AGMs would be OK, ups spec SLA batteries are for long life and slightly slower discharge and recharge rate. So your AGMs could be underworked by comparison, maybe have fractionally higher self discharge. Should be quite capable for ups battery role.
Also, only UPS's of that sort of voltage I've come across would have had 12v SLA's fitted in either series or parallel in combination.Edited by Ralph2k6 2017-10-02Ralph
