Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Very interesting. If I learned it and used it, I could further dismay my wife with my geekiness.

Thursday.

Doesn't work for 2-2, it is a Saturday this year.

Looks like my old memory needs refreshing, February is covered by 'the last day of February, so 2-2 needs to be forgotten.

"I work at the 7-11 from 9-5. Reverse 11-7 and 5-9.
Remember 4-4, 6-6, 8-8, 10-10 and 12-12.
Last day of February."

Thanks

No 2-2. Dang. Now I've got to forget part of what I've almost learned.

I asked my wife the date of her son's birthday. She said 6-7. I said that's a Friday, and explained to her how I knew--and then where I got the trick from.

She said she didn't need any further convincing regarding my geekiness.

DOW addition for March for the "Perpetual Calendar in my head".

"I work at the 7-11 from 9-5. Reverse 11-7 and 5-9.
Remember 4-4, 6-6, 8-8, 10-10 and 12-12.
Last day of February. Pi Day."

As you said, barewires, March is easy when you know that the last day of February is the magic day of the week for the year, but Pi Day, 3-14, is always going to be the same day of the week as the last day of February.

lizby, that is very useful. I have been playing with:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zeller's_congruence
for 30 years, and Wikipedia references just pointed me to John Conway's (author of The Game of Life) Doomsday. If I can't soon find the MMBASIC code then I will rewrite it on my new Armmite H7 using the following phrases.

"I work at the 7-11 from 9-5. Reverse 11-7 and 5-9.
Remember 4-4, 6-6, 8-8, 10-10 and 12-12.
Last day of February. Pi Day.
January 3 (common years), January 4 (leap years)"

These dates were all Wednesday in 2018.

Add a day for next year or two days if coming into a leap year.

2018 Wed
2019 Thu

2020 Sat
2021 Sun
2022 Mon
2023 Tue

2024 Thu

Enjoy and have a Happy New Year and remember the magic day for 2019 is Thursday!

For what it's worth, Halloween also falls on a magic weekday, and for Americans, the Fourth of July. I kinda like this game.
