@Grogster: ...that's why I'm label all the pins like that: TxD_PC / RxD_PC or TxD_µC / RxD_µC Frank |

+1 I use them to distinguish, even though it is not strictly correct to do so on bog-standard serial. What I also do (as I use a 3.5mm stereo jack for console connections) I use the old Tip/Ring notation as Tx/Rx but always wrt the PC end. |

But (and I guess I should look it up), I've never known what MISO and MOSI stood for, so have the same problem as with Rx and Tx. I'm guessing that in this context, MISO isn't "a traditional Japanese seasoning produced by fermenting soybeans with salt and koji (the fungus Aspergillus oryzae)". Ok, for those as ignorant as I was before searching, MOSI: Master Out, Slave In; MISO: Master In, Slave Out. (Now if you can just get past the connotations of the historical meanings of master and slave.) PicoMite, Armmite F4, SensorKits, MMBasic Hardware, Games, etc. on fruitoftheshed |

Sorry, I should have defined what they meant. I just assumed you would know. ![]() I have tended to adopt the SparkFun method for serial lines: TXO and RXI. TXO is serial out, and RXI is serial in. Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |
