Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Yes, that's good.

You have not mentioned the USB problem again. Is it still not recognised by Windows 10? The steps you took:
Quote  1. I connect the UBW32 with USB to a Win 10 PC
2. I run the BootLoader
3. I flash the UBW32 with ColourMM_MMBasic_v4.5C.hex
4. Bootloader confirms everything is OK
5. I reboot the UBW32, and then nothing is seen by Win 10 (on three diff. PCs)

Suggests that the USB connection was seen by Windows initially but when you rebooted the UBW32 it was not.

If you have Device Manager open and plug in the UBW32 do you hear the Windows sound that it has found new hardware? Does Device Manager refresh its display? Do you see any new entry under Ports (COM & LPT)?

Bill

PS Does anyone who reads this run MMBasic v5.4C on a UBW32?
Keep safe. Live long and prosper.

Nope, after flashing Windows 10 does not see anything. Before flashing, yes.

I have tried re-doing it several times, on different PCs. No dice.

Poppy, no problem :)

Can you put it into bootloader mode by grounding C13 while booting?
The yellow LED should be flashing.

The original instructions for MMBasic on the UBW32 requires C13 to be permanently grounded but in my case, it is only grounded briefly while booting for bootloader mode. All other times it's floating.

From the original but not in my case.

If you can get bootload mode working, run the Bootloader.exe and see if it finds the UBW32 again.
There is no need to actually re-flash it but it wouldn't hurt if you did.

I don't know if the UBW32 I have still has the original bootloader or the one provided by Geoff.

My UBW32 CMM has C13 permanently grounded. I used the as-supplied bootloader to load 4.5C and it's worked fine ever since. I have a PicKit 3 so could flash 4.5C directly but I've not needed to do that.

By the way, the 4.5C file doesn't include the bootloader. If you want to get Geoff's bootloader, the easiest way I know is to find a Maximite hex file that includes the words 'plus_bootloader' in the name. There's one in the "Colour Maximite Construction Pack.zip" archive you can download from Geoff's website - though it is for a previous firmware V4.4B. You send that to the Maximite using MPLAB X IPE and the PicKit 3. After that you have an older version of MMBasic, but if you boot the Maximite up with its program firmware button pressed down then the "power LED" flashes at about 4Hz. You can then connect to a Windows PC via USB cable and use the Bootloader.exe file in the latest version of MMBasic 4.5C archive to send the newer .hex firmware file. The new firmware doesn't include the bootloader, but doesn't overwrite it either so you can use it again in the future, if and when necessary.

You find the construction pack from Geoff's main Maximite page by clicking the 'Design and Construction' link in the 'More Information' section, and then the construction pack archive is available in the Downloads section of the resulting page.
