Visual perceptions and preferences are an individual matter. Sort of like arguing the relative merits of Jayne Mansfield vs. Marilyn Monroe vs. ...... to each his own.

Efficiency in the amount of rodent wiggling that is required to do something is a testable matter. I find that using the tiles results in a lot more rodent movement and carpel tunnel difficulty.

That would be considerably different with a touch screen.
