I can just see it...A group of shadowy brit retirees with military intelligence haircuts, in robes, in a slow procession winding through the promised lands, chanting hymns to the sacred MMBasic... any criticism, however constructive, will see the unwise tarred and feathered ... some say, there are incorrect thoughts, only appearing on a mystical thing called the Internet, trying to corrupt minds into using (gasp) some things that are Not Basic. (yes, really.) Then there is a cry out "Eat your own dog food you idiots !!!" . But that is just plain out of common sense and is ignored completely. |

Just imagine running an upgraded Arduino but easily programmed in MMBasic. ![]() PS: Forgot the Action! ![]() .. .. Well that's the important thing isn't it, it does a good job for you. When It comes down to microcontrollers for Electronics Projects, I still am quite faithful to my Arduino Nano's, because they cost only 2$, they're amazingly robust (haven't managed to short one yet), 20+ I/O's and plenty of speed for Electronics Projects, and the Arduino IDE is just fine for quickly coding something, there's always a library for whatever display I have laying around, and is just as easy as Basic to talk to the I/O ports. My entire shelf is filled with Nano's (there's like 100's of them) and I can't afford a shelf full of Mites :D I also have a ton of ESP 8266 and the newer generation ESP32, those are mad powerful, and runs Arduino as well. |

I'm not sure I understand you. Perhaps you haven't got experience of other retro groups on the internet? A curt response from Peter (to a question he's already answered half a dozen times) would count as lavish praise on some of them ![]() Best wishes, Tom MMBasic for Linux, Game*Mite, CMM2 Welcome Tape, Creaky old text adventures |

It was not serious !!! and wasn't about anyone in particular. In any case, I'd say Peter shows a lot of patience, certainly way more than I would sometimes ![]() It does raise a future question though, if more users are expected and there is significant money involved, the vendors should shoulder the support load in return for the $$, maybe run FAQ lists on their (tax deductable) websites. edit - In fact many buyers in IT corporate land, insist on serious financial penalties for late or deficient products. Say... 25% per two weeks ? Edited 2020-09-06 10:32 by zeitfest |
