Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Forum Index : Microcontroller and PC projects : I think that we should The 8-Bit Guy  and debuglive to do new videos.

If we have a playable game on the CMM2 (Mauro ?) finished far enough to be tested, send a CMM2 unit to LGR on Youtube.
He may do a video on it, and attract some more European folk. If it helps sales, Micromite.org (UK based) could sell more units, and invest in a unit specific for this purpose. Or maybe siwypiotr (Poland).

I was more then surprized to see the 8bit guy do 2 very positive video's on maximites (CMM and CMM2). But another video from him on CMM2 will most likely take longer than the forum members want to wait. The CMM2 hype will be over by then....

While there have been massive advances in the firmware (thanks Peter), I'm not sure that enough has changed to encourage people to re-review something they covered only 6 months previously. I feel that if we are to increase exposure of the CMM2 we have to do something pro-active ourselves to make people take note. A magazine/PDF that prospective purchasers can download to wet their appetite for example? The forums are great for up-to-date info, but it can difficult to find older material (for instance I was completely in the dark about how to use .MOD files until one of the forum elders posted a recap). I know there are various user guides, but I'm talking about something glossy and shiny.

I think the Welcome tape is a great step in this direction.

The other issue I would see is the apparent barriers to entry. Note: I say apparent, because they are very minor - however - even these small things might dissuade beginners, and could easily be addressed with a simple video.
- Time delay on getting CMM2's delivered
- Confusion about having to get a seperate Waveshare module
- Firmware upgrading (maybe ship all CMM2 with a programming USB cable)
- The impression that all CMM2's are bare board developer kits
- Lack of central information (Starters guides/downloads)* (see below)

With regards to the last point (the lack of central information), I know we have the forum, but it can be difficult to find the right info if it's buried, and Geoff's website, but it's three pages - that's not much for a machine with so much potential.

Of course, I feel that Geoff and Peter should have the final say in how they want their baby to proceed. Maybe it is too early to push for wider adoption (until the Firmware has stabilised) or maybe they already have their own plans?
