Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

lizby said  What does the Lolin D1 mini feature that the older D1 Mini doesn't have (other than the USB C port)? How does a LOLIN I2C port differ from what is available on the older version?

USB C is the main selling point for me. Some of the knock-off D1s have smaller flash, too, so are closer to the D1 Mini Lite.

(all this was in the page I'd linked to previously, btw)

The I2C port breaks out the same pins as are on the headers. Note that WEMOS's pinout for their I2C connector isn't compatible with Qwiic / Stemma QT, even if they use the same physical connector.

Thanks for this guide, it's helped me get an ESP-8266 installed and flashed.  The only frustration was that I had cut & paste my filenames into NODEMCU which doesn't automatically select the checkbox next to the filename so wasn't flashing those files.

After a very frustrating 30 minutes, I finally spotted my error.
