Oh yeah, the BT is I2C on the Pico-W, right (need to check the docs)? On my regular UART Bluetooth, I have been throwing big chunks of data between a MM+ and Android tablets for years and never a checksum error.... nothing. The SPP is like being hardwired. Take the tablet out of range, lose connection, back in range and auto-connect without fuss. |

If you had spent as long as I did trying to get wifi reliable on the Pico then you would understand why I will definitively NEVER be touching bluetooth. All communication with the CWY43 is via PIO SPI. NO BLUETOOTH ON THE PICO EVER FROM ME!!!! |

Don't blame ya. Right now, my "dream team"; CMM2 for front end, RP2350 for machine control, ESP32 for connectivity. |

You mean a CMM2 fitted with an internal ESP8266-01S to give wireless connection to a couple of others on PGA2350s for the IO? :) Mick Zilog Inside! nascom.info for Nascom & Gemini Preliminary MMBasic docs & my PCB designs |

ESP32 is preferred but internal is no good for me. CMM2 will be in the Rittal enclosure (steel). But yeah, I'm shooting for a machine where only the power uses conductors. |

The CMM2 can have a socket for the little module though, not for the ESP32. Steel boxes - RS485 goes everywhere. :) Mick Zilog Inside! nascom.info for Nascom & Gemini Preliminary MMBasic docs & my PCB designs |

Yeah, I love FD RS485 (4 wire) which is what I currently use. Buddy of mine was working on his own EtherCAT until he discovered that it really isn't open source as claimed and they have a lot weird timing stuff going on that we decided was only there for obfuscation. Apple and John Deere have been making the headlines recently regarding "right to repair" but the auto industry and controls industry have been pulling this cr@p since forever. Now the controls industry wants to lock everyone in to EtherCAT. Not happening for me. KISS principle rules I aim to eliminate cable drag chains altogether and use slip-rings for power distribution. |

@ matherp - fair enough too. I was, as I said, just poking the stick in a little, as you have surprised us all so much in the past. I do realize just how much effort was required to get the WiFi working, so.... It was just a little forum humour. ![]() Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |
