What kind of control software needs so much memory? I have many hundreds of DOS-based industrial CNC controllers in the field. One MB RAM was never a problem. |

Why look for the most complex solution? :) One web server plus bidirectional RS485. Multiple task handlers and IO ports with bidirectional RS485. Use the COM ports in MMBasic to control the RS485 in each case as you get built-in buffering. Less complex than a parallel interface, multi-station by design and still pretty fast. It will even work on the RP2040 apart from the web server. Mick Zilog Inside! nascom.info for Nascom & Gemini |

Well in my case, I am running 1ms PID servo loops and 2ms trajectory planners. REAL closed-loop servo control involves not just feedback from the encoder that is integrated with the motor but also a secondary feedback from the actual load. I need a minimum of 8 coordinated axes which means sample-accurate updates. I need two Picomites for this. These things can do what even the big guys can't ![]() Edited 2026-10-18 01:31 by PhenixRising |
