The questions you ask are quit traditional to southerners.
If you really want to know, I'd tell you as much as I know, but this forum is a little special, isn't it?

Answering shortly, In Russia while building we use "Frost Circle (Contour)" meaning -- the parts must be built before t dropped below zero.

I'm only vaguely curious about the -20 and was mentioning it to highlight a potential problem. I'm not sure how you'd go about solving it though, different grease for the bearings maybe.

Anyway I think the straw bale house will provide plenty of insulation - thats one of the main considerations for building one after all.

I don't know enough to comment on the how-to-load the windmill appropriately question, so I'll stay out of it.

OK, if I wanted to connect my mill, when finished, I was planning on one of those cheap grid tie inverters on eBay, would I be better off using a battery as a buffer, or would straight into the inverter be OK?

The inverter would be a 14-28v (12volt) 300W Power-jack thingy.
