Thanks. It's a small PM inbox, but I think that is a GOOD idea, otherwise you'd end up with heaps of messages you never clear out. Email addresses can be exchanged in PM's, and then standard email can take it from there if need be, so I think the 30 message limit for the PM inbox is a good thing.

MHO only.

Grogs,

Glad to hear the .5mm pin spacing was not too bad to solder.
I am also a .5mm virgin, that will all change when I get your boards.
Then me and Zonker can jump into the 64 pin 470 beta testing.

In the mean time I need to get back on building more LCDuMite boards, I'm way behind on that.

Thanks,

Lou

panky

Remaining stock:(pending orders included)

UPDATE: Everything seems to work OK on the prototype board:

If I can get it going OK, I am confident that others getting boards will also be able to.

NOW - on to some testing.........

EDIT: Basic testing(no pun intended!) at the default speed does not seem to show any issues, and I am now running the 470 @ 96MHz - again - there does not seem to be any issues that I can detect at the moment.Edited by Grogster 2015-02-23

Looking good there Grogs

Please let me know if you have a spare slab!. Is it worth sending one pigeon over containing Peters and mine (if any spare space in his order) and then I can arrange with him to post locally? Just a suggestion (I'm sure he will be ok with this).

Otherwise please let me know how much to be added onto Monday's shipments.

Thanks,
WW

UPDATE: All PCB's ordered thus far, have been dispatched international airmail. You should have in 7-10 days.

I have prepared a ZIP file that anyone can download, which contains all the documents - GIF images of each layer, overlays, BOM, construction notes, and a schematic.

When I order 1B boards, there will be a new thread, with a new set of documents to reflect the changes.

SkinnyMite 1A documents ZIP file link. (3.2MB)

The description is an ODT file by default, and you will need the likes of Open-Office, Libre-Office or a reasonably recent version of Microsoft Word to be able to open this file. I have also included it as an RTF file, but the formatting is slightly different.

Grogster

The boards arrived today - many thanks. All soldered up but waiting for a 64-pin MX470 from RS.

Mine arrived too - thanks.

Off to buy a white carpet now as too many SMDs have been lost. . . .

Hey guys.

Happy to hear that both of your boards have arrived.

You don't HAVE to use the reset(supervisory) chip, but I think it is a good idea.
It holds the 470 in a RESET state until the power supply is stable and will hold the chip in RESET if the supply brown-out's to 3.15 volts or less, allowing for a clean reset. Dirty power can be the cause of some odd things with these modern and powerful MCU's, and the supervisory chip only adds about $1 to the price. For one extra buck, it could save you a lot of stress with something as juicy as the 470 - it can hold A-LOT of program code!!!!

Paul - if it makes you feel any better, I was quite surprised that the boards have arrived to our chums in England already. I would have expected at least 7 days, so hopefully they will arrive by this coming Tuesday.

Boards arrived to day thanks Grogster.
Noticed they were wrapped in cardboard from a 6 pack of Coke. Anyone tell you that is worse for you than the Grog.

It is Coke Zero - no sugar.
It does have caffeine, but I hear that is now supposed to be good for you.

It IS interesting that it took so many more days to get to Australia, when Phil and Peter over in England had them in about four days.

Oh well.....

Glad that all have arrived fine thus far, anyhoo.

Well I have passed soldering 101 for SMD 1206.

The soldering was easier than expected, but probably only because I had got a few things ready for it as suggested. The Gel Flux, magnifying light, tiny pair of tweezers and a new tip for the soldering iron.

I initially put the power LED on the wrong way,but once swapped around it was OK.

The LED had two small green marks at one end,so I though this was the pointy end, ie the Cathode. There is a small dot on the silkscreen, I assumed this would be the Cathode. Is there a convention for the placement of the dot and does it mean Anode?

The supervisor MCP130-315 is sometimes referred to as MCP140-315 (BOM, silkscreen) but the part I got based on the part no. was MCP130-315 and schematic refers to MCP130-315.

A neat little board.
Thanks Grogster.

Regards
Gerry
