Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Hi Grogs,,

I agree with Greg, if you can accommodate BOTH without compromising your layout then all the better..

I have a good range of 0805 parts but only the 47uF caps I use for VCap in 1026 or 3225 sizes...

Here is the BOM for those of you ordering boards, so you can get in the bits you need to assemble the unit.

I will also be uploading a link to a full ZIP file that contains this BOM as well as overlay diagrams and a schematic soon.

Here is a link to the documents. This file contains high-res GIF's of both layers to aid in component placement, Geoff's schematic, the BOM and some construction notes.

Hi Grogster
Is there some reason for using the dropbox thing instead of on the TBS.

I was wondering this too but then noticed a button to download the files without subscribing (I hate subscribing to stuff as it always increases inbox content with 'garbage' emails)

Filesize.

ZIP file uploads to the forums are limited to 500kB, and the documents like this are 1.5MB or so, and the forum software refuses the upload as being too big.

Understandable too - you don't want the forums bogged down with big uploads.

Grogster,
If you want somewhere to put the file that doesn't involve dropbox etc, let me know.
I have plenty of capacity on my website nowadays.

Thanks for the BOM, and I've ordered all my parts... but how about a text document version for future boards. It would be nice to be able to cut and paste part numbers or descriptions directly into Element14/Mouser/Altronics etc.

@ Jim - I am about to launch my website(by end of July), and it will then host the documents, but thanks very much for the offer.

@ Curtis - Good point. I will include an ODS and XLS file versions of the BOM from now on for anything so you can copy-and-paste as you say - good idea.

Here's a BOM with Mouser, Newark and Element14 part numbers. Newark and Element 14 are the same place, so maybe the Newark numbers are US?

A few parts in Newark's catalog are only stocked in the UK. Could be right now or indefinitely. Dunno.

Not all Mouser parts are the same vendor as Newark but they are equivalent. The only other special part is the Hirose mini USB B socket: it's available at both Newark and Mouser.

I couldn't find the same SD socket at Mouser but I did find it on eBay.

The planets must all be in alignment! The boards arrived today along with all the parts from Element14(Newark), Mouser, Microchip and a eBay order from China! Parts shipped from four different countries around the world all arrive at the same time...What are the odds?

Looks like I'm going to be doing some soldering this weekend.

It's such a long hike out to the mailbox! I live in farm country and it's the middle summer here. The mail carrier should drive up to the house in his air conditioned truck instead of me walking all the way out to the road to pick it up. Oh well, it might be time to start work on that Mite monitored mailbox I've been dreaming about.

Anyway, the deliveries were a freak chance. Different venders, ordered on different days and shipped to both my home and office and all arrived one the same day. Chances are it will never happen again.
