Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

The W10 behavior is different than W8.1. Follow TassyJim post above. Simple - W10 install generic USB-serial driver and doesn't allow to replace it for Silicon driver while W8.1 recognize MM+ device and want to install driver.

You CAN convince W10 to let you use the Silicon Chip drivers but it is no help. The generic W10 drivers work just as well.

BUT

You have to power the device from an external supply, not via USB.
Inserting the USB then works once only until you power cycle the device. (A reset should also work but I haven't tried that yet).

I tested with the explore64 board and MMBasic V4.7 beta23. I expect that your board will be the same if running the same software.

@TassyJim

Thanks for hints. I have had no experience with MM+ since I was waiting for 100pin version and received the SnadPIC board just yesterday.

SnadPIC prelimary testing - results

I spent last couple days with SnadPIC testing. I know that FW is not carved for 100 pin chip so take the results as preliminary basic functionality test.
Test was made on Dell Precision Workstations M4600 one with W8.1 and another with fresh W 10Pro installation.

First checked the SnadPic board visually and have to say that board is made with high quality PCB and electronic parts. The components soldering is made by automated process and parts are perfectly aligned and soldered.
W8.1 requires to install Silicon Chip USB driver using F8 trick because of unsigned driver and everything works fine when powered via USB- see the picture.

Unfortunately when external power is applied the connection is unsuccessful .

The same happens when use CPU RESTART command. Only way to get it back into operating status is disconnect and reconnect the USB cable. Seems like Silicon Chip drives is obsolete and to be upgrade.

The W10Pro does recognize board as Microsoft serial device and refuses to replace this driver with Silicon Chip driver. The result is that SnadPIC can't establish communication with the terminal emulator

Any comment, suggestion or idea is more tan welcome.

Regards
Bo

@f1fco

Hi Pierre,

FW for 100pin MX470 is not ready yet. For testing purposes you can use 64pin Version.
Remember you have install Silicon chip driver on your comp.

ok Boss, thank you for answer
I try it and programming the PIC is OK

I think that not all the pins are usable...
I compare the datasheet between 470F512H and L and I do nor use pins that do not exist on 64 pins chip
is it OK ?

Hi Pierre,

basically your idea is O.K, but check page 1 this thread (matherp) description what is working on 100 pin version.I believe Geoff is working on the FW for this version.
Enjoy the board.
