Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

@ cosmic frog - Interesting. I have found the opposite. Without the 2R2, inserting the SD card to a running CMM or E64 module will cause the system to reboot. I guess there is some kind of short but significant surge when you do that with the system powered up. The 2R2 always fixes that problem - for me.

I have two UBW32's running MMBASIC and both refuse to see the SD card with the resistor in place. My SD card is soldered direct to the board (its a micro sd in an adapter) so I never remove it without first switching off the power.

Dave.

  bigmik said   Hi circuit,

Of course the schematic of the Sparkfun module is on their web site..

Go to the link you posted and click on schematic...

I would post the link but I am on my iPad and it is not as easy as when on my PC.

Regards,

Mick

Ps you said A0 was correct I think you meant A0 is NOT correct.

Mik

Yes, I did, of course mean that A1 is correct and A0 is an error; - an early morning typo. Yes, I had already downloaded the SparkFun Schematic for the module but I guess that my ignorance about SD card connections and protocols caused it to make less than perfect sense to me. Reviewing it again, in view of the help from the forum and further reading, it all becomes very clear. Thank you.

GDay Grogs, All,

Grogster said   @ Mik - have you had a canine tragedy?

@Grogs
Yes! We had to make the terrible decision to put our beautiful little boy down on Friday (12-Feb).. He developed Megaesophagus back in July last year. We have been feeding him vertically (and giving him water) and holding him that way, for 30 minutes after, for the last 8mths.. (The only way to really treat this irreversible condition).

Unfortunately other parts of his body were starting to shut down and we decided to end his suffering (and start ours).

James was a one in a million doggie, he was a miniature Schnauzer, we rescued him from the lost dogs home at 18mths and he was with us for 6 1/2 years..

Those that have received PCBs etc from me would have seen his caricature on my senders label. (he will be there for a while as I recently bought another 200 of them).

@All, Re. Resistor in SD card VCC line.
Yes I have found I required the resistor to be replaced by a shorting link as well as my uSD cards on my UBW32-MCC would not be detected with the resistor present.

Regards,

Mick

Just to conclude; SD card is now fully functional with the UBW32 board using the last schematic arrangement above. Also, I have the 2R2 resistor in place and the SD card works perfectly with it in circuit. The SD card can be removed or inserted without any re-boots mentioned in previous posts. All pins are wired in including Card Detect and Write Protect, both of which seem to work correctly; a write-protected SD card reporting "Error: SD card is write protected".

Thanks for all the help, all.

Great News,

Thanks for letting us know... The beauty of this forum is every body has already `been there done that' and we are always willing to help.

I am sorry to hijack your thread with pictures of my dog, I didn't expect the photo to be as large as it was, TBS usually shrinks the pictures so small you can hardly see them..

Regards,

mick

Hi Mick,

please don't care about too big pictures!
That's what makes this forum so human.
I (and many here I guess) feel with you!

Thanks Michael,

I suspect James had his own ideas about his picture being squashed and said "NO WAY I am a big boy".

Anyway I think I have used up enough TBS bandwidth on this matter.. Many of us have dogs and no doubt many of them pass away each year.. so I am no exception there.

Beautiful looking puppy. I feel your sorro. When we lost our last dog, I never replaced him. Could not face that again - you get so attached to them and unique things about YOUR dog. Perhaps I should revisit the doggie thing now. It has been ten years in my case. Apologies to circuit - not meaning to hijack this thread, and this will be my final post on this subject here.
