Hi MM_Wombat, All, I have had a play with FLASHBACK and it is fantastic, Thanks for that link... works like a charm, however it creates HUGE files.. I did a 52 second 1920x1080 (which is my screen size) clip as a test and reduced quality of record to 50% and it created a 22MB AVI file (the FBR was only 6MB) Yeeuuukk!! I will see what I can convert it to but I think Glenn will gut me and hang me from a yard arm if (Even if TBS would accept these sizes) I filled his site up with enormous video clips.. I think I will have to revert to a TEXT and screen captures to show what steps to take.. I think it is workable, TBS members are not stupid I can show a part or two being placed on screen and talk about what is happening and then say to place more parts and they can work it out easilly enough I feel. I will probably do a word document (and create a PDF from it) as well. Anyway I am looking forward to starting this task. @ BigMik I uploaded the 6.6Mb Flash file to my Youtube account. You could use this means to deliver the videos, just set up a youtube account and channel. BigMikTest You set up the youtube account, then let the player access the account, then in the Flashback player, you click share and let it share the flash file it creates to your youtube account. MM_wombat Keep plugging away, it is fun learning But can be expensive (if you keep blowing things up). Maximite, ColourMaximite, MM+ |

Hi MM_Wombat, Whilst I could do that or link to my GOOGLE drive the problem is the length for time recorded.. I am figuring that based on about 1 hr (and it could quite easilly be a few hours) of recording that would equate to 1.5 GigaBytes of video.. That is a lot!! OK that is in the AVI format but even the flash version would be near 500MB.. I will see how I go with creating a word document and then `transcribing' that to a TBS post in the forum with a link to the document.. If I feel that it needs a video clip I am sure that there are clips in the DEX forum that I could link to or if necessary do one of my own.. Also I am sure I could ask Iliya to do a clip if one is lacking and needs to be done anyway for his collection. This will be an experience that I have not attempted before and I am sure there will be many issues (steps I miss or skip over because I do it naturally) and questions asked along the way.. I am currently creating a couple of parts complete with 3D to post on TBS so they can be used in the demonstration.. Namely a tactile switch and the trimpot and I made an 18pin male header as I had previously created sizes all around that, but skipped 18pin.. Anyway lets first see how it looks.. I will go through the processes (maybe as separate documents) such as: SCHEMATIC Build LAYING out the PCB SETTING some design rules ROUTING the PCB using the free 3rd party product ELECTRA ADDING some `keep out' areas ADDING copper pours to both sides ADDING/EDITING the silkscreen overlay and then 3D viewing and adding colours and some textures to the 3D That's the plan anyway. Be aware that lots of people have no ability to use flash to playback a video. Youtube solves a lot of playback issues as it will render it in a few formats so that it can be played back by everyone using different players when needed. Never used video embedded in a webpage myself but something that is working with HTML5 might be the one that has the most support. On my surface pro/win10 screenprint are saved in the pictures\screenshots folder. (CMD+PRTSCR combination) Which allows me to easily make a few screenshots after each other without the need to paste every time into a program and save it first. Microblocks. Build with logic. |

I did try importing the .brd file into DEX but the first message I got was that the files were not Eagle 6 format. So passed it through Eagle 6 and saved them in E6 format. Then had offset tracks from the PCB and silkscreen within DEX. No matter what I tried I struggled. Has anyone out there been able to successfully 'import' Geoff's design into DEX? I have tried both the GL version of DEX and the non-GL version. Appreciate any words of success out there with Geoff's .brd file . . . . |

Sorry WhiteWizard, Apart from a play about 6 months ago I have never used it.. Geoff's board is pretty simple so you would expect the import should work OK.. can you please PM me the eagle 6 export (is there a compressed/uncompressed option when you save it out? Sorry, but not ever using eagle I don't know. Kind Regards, Mick Mick's uMite Stuff can be found >>> HERE (Kindly hosted by Dontronics) <<< |

Please try two things if you can (and no problem if you've never used Eagle as you're simply using DEX's Eagle file import feature): 1> Try importing Geoff's .brd file he has published (this is where I got an Error saying wrong version number - i.e. not an Eagle 6 file) 2> Try the attached file (Geoff' file converted to Eagle version 6) 2016-05-15_232613_2.8_BackPack_DEX_Test.brd.zip Thanks . . . |

GDay Phil, I get exactly the same.. Can you do the sch file as well and I can send them to Iliya for his thoughts? Kind Regards, Mick Mick's uMite Stuff can be found >>> HERE (Kindly hosted by Dontronics) <<< |

EDIT *** I am wondering, as reading the import dialog, it talks about importing BOTH sch and brd to create the project file.. Mik Mick's uMite Stuff can be found >>> HERE (Kindly hosted by Dontronics) <<< |

Hi Phil, It made a difference in that I could move the top right hand stuff down.. I didnt do it perfectly but it is almost right.. I will forward it onto Iliya for his input.. There must be some minor `registration, error.. I notice that the top screen text is imported to the Documentation layer.. Easy enough to move to the correct layer but not worth doing till the import is fixed. 2016-05-16_023416_test_backpack_28.zip Kind Regards, Mick Mick's uMite Stuff can be found >>> HERE (Kindly hosted by Dontronics) <<< |

I was able to do this without the .sch - but the 'control' over the movement was very erratic. I group selected the top right stuff (i.e. the PCB, pads, silkscreen), and dragged it towards the tracks. But as I came to stopping the 'drag', there seemed to be a 'continuation' (a bit like steering a boat on water), so getting accurate placement was impossible. Will be interesting to see what IIlya comes back with - hopefully something silly I am doing ![]() WW |

@WW, I suspect you had the sch file in the same directory.. I found everything loaded exactly as you showed but when I moved the block with the PCB down to the tracks the tracks disappeared and the schematic was blank, this was not the case when the sch file was loaded (they load together if they have the same name and in the same directory). There is obviously some minor issue with the import and coordinates for each layer, have you tried other boards at all? Also can you try setting the origin before saving to eagle 6 format.. Not sure what or where to set it too.. Regards, Mick Mick's uMite Stuff can be found >>> HERE (Kindly hosted by Dontronics) <<< |

Not sure what is going on now. One other very simple Eagle circuit tried. DEX shows a blank PCB ![]() Restarted DEX, now asking for a licence number. Rebooted system thinking strange behaviour - but now DEX is asking for licence number every time. Will try some other Eagle files once sorted out correct DEX startup. WW |

I have just had my Internet phone socket moved by the Phone company. Being that the line gets 'dropped', the Router/Hub then establishes a new public IP address. I wonder if AutoTrax senses a new public IP address and hence thinks it is a 'new' install ![]() Trying to locate my licence number now - but only finding emails with 'Links' to download. It must be here somewhere ![]() |

@WW, Dex doesn't care about your IP address, in fact I have it installed on my laptop as well which is 3G or works wifi networks so my ip changes many times. You should have a key when you purchased but I think it works on your email address now. Mick Mick's uMite Stuff can be found >>> HERE (Kindly hosted by Dontronics) <<< |

Was just curious as to how DEX 'lost' the licence info and was asking for it again - the PUBLIC IP change was the only explanation I could think off (other than there being a 'bug'). Spoke with Iliya who reset my password since the 'Request Account Password' was asking for 'Details'?? However, the 'Submit' button disappeared so I was stuck in an impossible loop until I spoke to him. All sorted now regarding DEX starting properly. In the meantime he is looking into the Eagle import feature with the files supplied. ![]() |

I can confirm the 'odd behaviour' and could not help myself just inspecting the .brd file. From .brd when imported and looking at the white board outline, the 'origo' appears to be lower left corner, DEX shows this as (0,0). Inspection of the Eagle .brd file which looks like being xml style, with quick scan of 'wire' coordinates shows negative values of x and y. Meaning placement outside the board outline. I was going to do a calculation of the offset vector for the top and bottom layer (guessing red and blue means top and bottom) but decided against it as I don't know anything more than the name about Eagle. I think it is a simple fix for the makers. I really just wanted to see if I could manage to import from files downloaded from the forum topics. I survived the little exercise. ![]() |

I bought DEX yesterday, I decided to give it a go and see how easy or hard it is I got no email from them with a licence key, and no instructions on how to contact them to get one I tried their website but you have to log in and I don't have a log in name.. I did get the confirmation email from Paypal saying it's been paid Any suggestions? |
