Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Very impressive.

As WW asks, any chance of porting this over to the 64 or 100?

MY GUESS WOULD BE NO.
Reasons I expect would be lack of speed, memory and SPI channels on the E64 and E100, correct?

@Grogs

I am referring to the possibility of it running on a 64pin MZ (not E64 or E100). Peter currently has this brilliant development on the 100pin MZ; and had mentioned in a previous post that the 'enclosed Betas for the MZ' only had the VGA feature on the 100pin version of the code.

Hoping it will be possible on the 64pin MZ (no money left for any more hardware this side of Xmas )

The VGA display will never run on the MX470 as it doesn't have enough SPI channels

I wasn't intending to implement on the 64-pin MZ as it only has 4 SPI channels vs 6 on the 100-pin but I'll look at it again once I have everything running

Everything now fully integrated except console - job for tomorrow

That would be brilliant Peter, especially if it is technically possible.

In an earlier post you gave some useful 'figures' for the 100pinner (as follows):
Quote  It uses 3 SPI ports (out of 6 on the 100-pin MZ) and 3 DMA channels (out of 7, 1 is also used by USB). In addition it uses 1 timer (out of 9) and 1 output compare channel (these are used for PWM, out of 9).

Can you indicate the equivalent numbers for the 64pinner please when you get a spare minute

I assume with the VGA needing 3 SPIs, and the SD needing another, then that is the four SPIs 'used up'. Is this the reason you were not thinking initially for doing VGA on the 64pinner?

Sorry for all the questions whilst you are trying to concentrate on this very exciting development

Nearly there . Just some tidying up and VGA is complete on the 100-pin MZ including console capability with edit.

Looking really sweet

So is that a total of (what appears to be) 50 x 24 screen size (columns x rows); or is the font size variable to allow different numbers of columns and/or rows?

Great progress . . .

The normal OPTION LCDPANEL CONSOLE [font [,fc [,bc]]] works as per the SSD1963
