Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Received my AS3935 board yesterday and have been making some slow progress. When I first tried to read the registers I kept getting zeros back. Then I tried reading the Lightning Detection Look-up Table and was able to read that, but no luck reading register 00h. Did a little searching around and found a report saying the AS3935 will not work if you attempt to read register 00h first, but will work fine if you read any other register prior to reading register 00h. Now I'm finally getting some values that look promising.
Still have a long way to go, but at least I'm starting to make some progress.

Hi Curtis,
I sniffed the I2C bus of the above mentioned modul from ELV with a logic analyzer a long time ago - I can send you the file which I sniffed with Saleae Logic. Maybe it helps???

Thank you Frank, however I'm focusing on using the SPI interface. I have more experience with SPI than I2C having helped create Mik-Matrix and working with Nokia 5110 displays. When I have the SPI up and working I'll turn my attention to getting a I2C version working.
