You could read the ADC reference directly from the ADC_VREF pin (35) just to see what it's like (R8 is in the way, but it's probably not important). You're not supposed to inject a voltage here as R7 is pulling it up to 3.3v.

The recommendation is to connect a LM4040 3v shunt voltage reference (similar to a zener diode) from VREF to GND. An existing onboard resistor (R7) sources the current and the LM4040 clamps VREF to 3v. If you have a 3v or even a 2.7v zener you could try that,but the accuracy and noise won't be as good.
