Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

I went to the link and it didn't have the stats on the 2 full wave bridge rectifiers you need for the project.

Has it ever been suggested that a second set of short(er) blades (equally spaced between thhe others) be used for start up torque - with weighted ends such that they fold in behind the 'speed' blades by cenrifugal force? And re-emerge when the wind speed drops?
(I know, it is a 'way out' idea! Or is it a way out of a known problem?)Edited by neil0mac 2010-03-14

Neil,
I dont know the answer but it sounds like a good mini mill test for you to let us know on the results.
I to have wondered about lets say 3 short blades between each of the 3 main blades to give starting torque but have no idea of the overall effect this will have on a mill and if it will cause drag at higher speed or not.
