kiiid said  Something for fixing in the documentation: in the 64-pin devices pin 15 is clock, and pin 16 is data for firmware programming (PGEC1 and PGED1 respectively)

Thanks Kon.

TZAdvantage said   Does that also mean that Microchips Harmony library is tackled? :)

No, I was able to keep using PLIB with the MX470.

hi Geoff,
as said Kiiid, on the table in bottom of page 8, for the 64 pins chip, PGD is pin 16 and PGC is pin 15

and also for the 100 pins chip :
PGD is pin 25 (not 24)
PGC is pin 24 (not 25)
Vcc is pins 2, 16, 30, 37 (not 36), 46 (not 45), 55, 62 and 86

thank you again and again for this wonderfull work

G'day Guy's,
Well after I saw the video Geoff put up and I had some 470's here I decided to have a go at making up one using a 64 pin breakout board. Now when I when I fired up IPE it did see the pic ok and programmed the first time. Now all I did was went of the schematic which is correct.

Thought YEA lets fire up teraterm using the usb BB board I made years ago then thought noway need 3V3 volts. So back off to the shed and I'm on making a 3V3 reg board to fit inside the pins. I will get that finished in the morning then first task is teraterm.

Cheers Bryan

Not at the moment, but Geoff plans to have one - just not quite yet.

Almost certainly not, it appears to have capacitive touch which won't work

Try this one or any like it. Or go 5" for the same resolution but less money and lower power requirement

Hi everyone,

I found this PIC32MX470L (100pin) board on eBay.
It maybe good starting platform when the 100pin FW will be available

Although they are very careful not to say, that board looks like it is a PC32MX795F512L. That was used in the Maximite several years back.

Hi Bo, BobD

I have one of the SNADPic PIC32MX470F512L modules here, but it's unfortunately not usable with the MM+ s/w because the SNADPic board uses a 8MHz xtal, and the MM+ s/w requires a 20MHz xtal.

Before someone asks why 20MHz vs 8MHz, I asked Geoff and he explained

Geoff Graham said  20MHz was necessary to get a clock of 120MHz.
The PIC32 firstly divides the crystal to get the frequency between 4 and 5MHz. For an 8MHz crystal this would require dividing by 2 for 4MHz, where with a 20MHz crystal dividing by 4 gives 5MHz. Then the PLL multiplies this frequency. The highest multiplier is 24 so with an 8MHz crystal we end up with a clock of 96MHz but with a 20MHz crystal we end up with 120MHz.

Otherwise the SNADPic module is a very nice unit, well made, and very reasonably priced, USD 30.99 / GBP 19.98 here in UK, and it ships from inside the EU so no additional taxes/duties for EU countries.

Hi all
As I only have a 28 pin micromite what software revision should I be using as I cannot use all the features of the 64 pin device.
Thanks

For the moment you are better sticking to V4.6 which is on my web site or V4.7 beta 8 which can be download using this link: http://geoffg.net/Downloads/Micromite/Micromite_4.7_Beta8.zip Note that B8 has a bug in the DISTANCE command.

My intention was to release a new beta for the 28 and 44 pin Micromites before I went away but I am running out of time so it might be delayed for a month or two.

@BobD

They have 4 CPU to choose from including 32MX470L. Check on eBay. The board is the same, just the chip is different.

@Peter

The seller is a Czech fellow and I believe you can kindly ask him to remove RTC 32kHz crystal and related capacitors and replace 8MHz crystal with 20MHz as well. The board price is around ~30 bucks and the shipping ~ $3.

Regards
Bo

Hi Bo

I thought of that, and indeed he is a most obliging fellow, so maybe I will consider returning the board to him with a request to replace the 8MHz with 20MHz XTAL.

Anyway, how's life ?

Thanks, I missed that. Too early in the morning. I should have gone to sleep instead of replying to your post at 4:00am.
It does look like a useful board.

Hi everyone and greeting from Vancouver ,

I had some chat with the seller because there is necessary to do some changes on the board:

1) Replace 8MHz crystal with 20Mhz Xtal
2) Remove 32kHz crystal and associated capacitors

The seller agreed do this mod for not extra charge, there is his post:
The seller is located in the Czech republic, so I wrote the mod request in Czech. But seller prefers communication in English

Dear kovois,

Hi
Let's speak English:)
Yes, it is possible.
You want a SnadPIC board MX470 which has 20Mhz crystal, and remove the 32khz and its capacitors, so RC13 and RC14 will be available,
But the board will be RED .(not green)
OK,you can buy the green 470 device and we will make the changes you want.
Just leave a note (message) : just write : NEED CHANGES to let us remember.
best regards

Bo

I have fixed the problems with pin allocations for SPI and COM1 in the MM+. The new version (beta 21) is available for download from: http://geoffg.net/Downloads/Micromite/Micromite+_4.7_Beta21.zip .

The updated pin numbering is on page 11 of the "Micromite Manual" (included in the download).

The other change is that you can now dynamically load up to ten additional fonts from the SD card. The following is a direct quote from page 17 of the the updated "Micromite Advanced Manual" (included in the download):

The command is: LOAD FONT filename$ AS #nbr

Once a font is loaded by a program it can then be used in a similar manner to the built in fonts (ie, selected using the FONT command or specified in the TEXT command). Note that the fonts are loaded into RAM and are cleared before a new program is run.

Loadable fonts must be in the UTFT format which is normally used to specify the font in a C program and is therefore written in that language. However MMBasic knows how to read these files and will extract the required font information from them.

The best source of fonts is Henning Karlsen's website at http://www.rinkydinkelectronics.com/r_fonts.php or you can use Google to search for UTFT Fonts. There are many free font files available covering a wide range of character sets as well as symbol fonts (Dingbats, etc) which are handy for creating on screen icons, etc. It is also possible to create your own font which can contain any symbols of any size as required.

As part of this change the built-in font #6 has been removed. There are now six built-in fonts.

Thanks Jim (viscomjim).

Thanks Boss for the post on the SNADPic PIC32MX470F512L module. I have just ordered one of them with the mods negotiated by you. It looks like a great board and I will be using it to develop and test the 100-pin version of the MM+. Much easier than my current test setup (in the top part of the photo below).
