G'day Peter, This is probably more a niggle than a problem: With ILI9488 or ST7789S in Landscape with LCDPANEL CONSOLE 1,,,,NOSCROLL List Pins scrolls of the screen leaving "Press any key to continue" at the top line of a blank LCD, regardless of starting position. List Commands / List functions works correctly. > option list PicoMite MMBasic RP2350A V6.03.00RC25 OPTION SYSTEM SPI GP18,GP19,GP16 OPTION FLASH SIZE 4194304 OPTION COLOURCODE ON OPTION CPUSPEED (KHz) 200000 OPTION LCDPANEL CONSOLE ,,,,,NOSCROLL OPTION DISPLAY 26, 60 OPTION LCDPANEL ILI9488, LANDSCAPE,GP14,GP13,GP12 > Edit: Also noticed that if the prompt is on the last line of the LCD, as soon as a character is entered it clears the LCD and starts on a new screen. This may be the culprit. Regards, Lyle. Edited 2026-06-26 21:46 by mozzie |

The NOSCROLL parameter is what causes the screen to clear. If you get rid of that, LIST PINS works as long as none of the lines is longer than your screen width (in my case 40 characters or 60 in your case) |

G'day, Toml_12953, Depending on the LCD panel type and orientation, the use of NOSCROLL is somewhat necessary, strangely in this case removing it causes a further problem. Peter, Further to previous post, removing NOSCROLL stops the LCD at the bottom line of a full screen and no further text is displayed, the terminal console will continue to slowly work but no further text on the LCD. Older versions would continue to write on the bottom line instead, sometimes with a white out of the rest of the LCD. Using CLS twice will clear the LCD and allow another screen full. Regards, Lyle. |

List pins is just a Basic program embedded in the firmware. This is the code Dim _q% For _q%=0 To MM.Info(max gp) Print "GP"+Str$(_q%), MM.Info(pinno "GP"+Str$(_q%)),MM.Info(pin MM.Info(pinno "GP"+Str$(_q%)))"" If _q% Mod (MM.HEIGHT-2)=0 And _q%<>0 Then Print "Press any key to continue"; Do Loop Until Inkey$<>"" EndIf Next Erase _q% If you can fix it so it works both for scroll and no-scroll then I'll update the firmware |

Is there any hope we could get LIST PINS to switch to font 7 (if MM.WIDTH is 40), then do the list, then change back to font 1? This would allow all the lines to be listed without scrolling the beginning off the screen for us LCD users. If MM.WIDTH=40 Then Font 7 Dim _q% For _q%=0 To MM.Info(max gp) Print "GP"+Str$(_q%), MM.Info(pinno "GP"+Str$(_q%)),MM.Info(pin MM.Info(pinno "GP"+Str$(_q%)))"" If _q% Mod (MM.HEIGHT-2)=0 And _q%<>0 Then Print "Press any key to continue"; Do Loop Until Inkey$<>"" EndIf Next Erase _q% Font 1 |

Hi Peter, I cannot fault the logic behind the list pins program and if I load it as a program and run it it works exactly as it should. With no real understanding of the interactions with other parts of the system I am the last person who should be commenting on this. My rather naive thinking is: When RUN is executed the screen is cleared, and running list pins as a program works fine, so does it just need a CLS? Considering List Pins will overload most screens anyway, would adding a CLS at the start break anything else? Dim _q% CLS For _q%=0 To MM.Info(max gp) Print "GP"+Str$(_q%), MM.Info(pinno "GP"+Str$(_q%)),MM.Info(pin MM.Info(pinno "GP"+Str$(_q%)))"" If _q% Mod (MM.HEIGHT-2)=0 And _q%<>0 Then Print "Press any key to continue"; Do Loop Until Inkey$<>"" EndIf Next Erase _q% Regards, Lyle. |

Ok, I tried another original Pico2 - it works with PicoMiteRP2350V6.03.00RC25 on my PicoCalc. The "old one" doesn't! My "old one" was an absolut new, original Pico2. What the f...!!! ![]() Frank |

Frank, do the CPU chips on the boards have the same stepping (A2 or A4)? Gerald Edited 2026-06-28 19:19 by ville56 73 de OE1HGA, Gerald |

@ville56: I won't be able to check that until the next few days—I don't have the old Pico2 with me right now. @homa: Thank you very much for the link! I'll have to update the BIOS to version 1.6 when I get a chance... Frank |

Is there a chance that Option screen keyboard will be available for SSD1963? It might even be good for 480x320 LCDs. |

No, to work nicely it relies on multi-touch and a decent sized screen |

I only had the chance to test it with GUI CURSOR LINK MOUSE and that works very nice on console. |

do the CPU chips on the boards have the same stepping (A2 or A4)? Gerald Both chips have exactly the same markings: RP2350A0A2 25 PAKV44.00 24 Frank |

There is an inductor feeding the 1.1V rail on the Pico-2 (check the datasheet for location). If you have a scope what would be very interesting is to see the voltage on the processor side of that inductor as the PicoCalc turns on standalone and then compare it to plugging in the microusb. Given that the only relevant difference between RC22 and RC23 is that RC23 enables the FPU my strong suspicion is that the FPU isn't starting up properly on the original board when powered by the PicoCalc but is when powered by the USB. The difference between the boards could be any marginal difference in component tolerances or quality |

Peter, Quick question. Rp2040 with ili9341 lcd.sPI. If I wat to work with high color depth files, is there any faster way then loading them from the A drive? Tiles are roughly 20 in 30*30 size. Memory wise they could fit in flash slot at 2 byte per pixel, but ther is no methode to SPI them to the glass, right .. that is faster than LOAD IMAGE from A drive.??? Hello Volhout, I tried that with Blit slots using Blit read/load/write which is very fast like Framebuffer copy |

G'day, Toml_12953, Whilst there are probably better ways of doing this, these all seem to work: To solve the NOSCROLL problem, store in LIBRARY: Sub LISTPINS CLS List Pins End Sub To change to font 7, store in LIBRARY: Sub LISTPINS Font 7 List Pins Font 1 End Sub Also a modification to the code Peter supplied to ensure no more than 40 chars wide: Sub LISTPINS Local _q% CLS ' Optional, use with NoScroll For _q%=0 To MM.Info(max gp) Print "GP"+Str$(_q%)+Choice(_q%<10," "," "); Print LEFT$(Str$(MM.Info(pinno "GP"+Str$(_q%)))+" ",3); Print LEFT$(MM.Info(pin MM.Info(pinno "GP"+Str$(_q%))),32) If _q% Mod (MM.HEIGHT-2)=0 And _q%<>0 Then Print "Press any key to continue"; Do Loop Until Inkey$<>"" EndIf Next End Sub Probably not the correct thread to discuss this subject so we should probably open a new one for anything further. Peter, As previously mentioned, if anything is typed with the cursor on the bottom line of the LCD with NOSCROLL enabled it clears the LCD and starts a new page, is this the expected behaviour? Michael (twofingers) earlier in this thread also mentions INPUT being used on the bottom line creates similar behaviour, testing shows this also to be the case. https://www.thebackshed.com/forum/ViewTopic.php?TID=18849&P=26#256222 Regards, Lyle. Yes: that is what no scroll does, when it runs out of screen space it clears and starts again at the top because it can't SCROLL. The LIST PINS issue is fixed and will be in the release Edited 2026-06-29 18:30 by matherp |
