I have ended up with OPTION CONFIG NTSC which rewrites the flash for NTSC. This option differs from other options. It permanently reconfigures MMBasic and only needs to be run once (ie, the setting will be remembered even with the power turned off).

You can use OPTION CONFIG PAL to revert if you want to.

This requires some way of getting to MMBasic first, probably by USB. But, as you need USB to reflash the MM anyway, I did not think that this would be too much of an issue.

This facility should appear in the next version of MMBasic.
