@Amnesie, The error was an access violation. This is most likely because I used a 'long' where I should have used an 'integer' when I converted from 32bit to 64bit. I have found a few places in the code and stomped on those errors bug there is most likely more to find. I updated the Windows files on my website (Installer and Portable) this morning so you could try the installer again but before you do, if you still have the MMEdit.inf file in the data folder, can you send me a copy and then delete it so the new installation doesn't inherit any bugs. Hello Jim! I found the reason why or better to say when this occurs! I saved to an external MicroSD card, which I disconnected and MMEdit seems to try to open the last used file, can't access it and will crash. I can replicate this problem very well. But I will try your new versions :) You've done a really great work with MMEdit, makes editing fun! Greetings Daniel |

Thanks for that. I didn't test for a removable drive. It should be easy to fix. (Famous last words) I go for surgery this morning so it will depend on how well I recover before i can get back to the keyboard. It might be a few days. Jim VK7JH MMedit |

@Daniel, The problem occurs when none of the previously open files can be opened. As long as one of the files can be found, the others are skipped over. I have changed it to catch this and will open a blank document if none are found. I will update in a day or two. @Brian, Melanoma between the eyebrows. A chunk the size of a 50 cent piece was removed and all should be good. The anesthetic is starting to wear off so not the right time to play coding. Jim VK7JH MMedit |

Geez Jim, that sounds nasty! I thought I was 'hard done by' about four years ago when I had a non-melanoma one the size of a little one cent coin (remember them) taken off my ear. I just changed my mind about that. ![]() Keep your sunnies and computer glasses off for a while and wear a hat - although I guess you've already been told that. Best of luck for a fast good recovery. Hey Jim, Sorry for your discomfort and hope that you are soon fighting fit (pain sucks ![]() I only just learned of this because I wasn't following the thread but I just installed V5 and wanted to say many thanks...I'm loving it ![]() The only puzzler is in MMEdit settings/preferences. The default is "14pt Courier New". I change it to something else but the change doesn't stick...it always reverts back. Many thanks again and best wishes ![]() Craig |

The preferences section needs a lot of changing. It is left over from an early start I made on this version. You can change the font by changing the inf files (with MMEdit shut down) The size set in the font menu does get retained. Jim VK7JH MMedit |

There is a "Save" button on the lower right. The default size I had set for the preferences window was too small and the save button is hidden until you resize the window. Lucida Console is a nice fixed font to try. Sorry about that. Jim VK7JH MMedit |

I have updated all MMEditV5 downloads today, 2nd April. This includes the Linux versions (Ubuntu and RPi) The Windows installer now gives you the option of associating BAS files with MMEdit. Still a lot of help file work to do. Jim VK7JH MMedit |

Many thanks Jim ![]() Don't know why but fonts with pointy bits always irritate me. Soooo much more comfortable, now ![]() Craig |

Hi Jim Glad you seem to seem to be recovering well & back in action. Just wondering if the "Find all in open files" box can be made "Always on Top" as well as the normal "Find" box. Reason. I have MMB4W running full size on my main screen which takes over everything. I went to use the "Find all.." but kept getting over written by MMB4W. I went into the INF file & changed it's coordinates to the other monitor display & managed to get it displayed after a MMEdit reboot. I also wondering if (before I tried the "Find all") that another "Toggle Bookmark" button could be added to the "Find" box so that when you do find what you are after, the line can be more easily bookmarked. Just wonderin' Update. Just downloaded & installed the latest V5 & "Find All.." came up OK. Edit. Sorry to be a pest but is there a chance of a drop down box in "Find" for previous searches. It would be handy at times.... Brian. Edited 2022-04-04 08:29 by Chopperp ChopperP |

@Brian, I have made the 'found in all files' list stay on top as well so that should make bookmarking then going to the next easier. I realised that finding 'whole words only' doesn't work for 'find in all files' so I will work on that next. Thank you all for the good wishes. I am looking forward to the all clear in a few days time. One cancer at a time is more than enough to deal with. (The other one is prostrate which is a long term journey) Jim Worth looking at. Thanks for that Jim. Yes, the prostate is a problem for us older guys. I know of 3 guys who have had operations recently. All doing fine. Mine is rather large (prostate, that is), but nothing else abnormal apart from a fairly high PSA reading. Which reminds me, I need another test done..... Thanks again Brian ChopperP |

Hi, is there any way to assign a function key to the "Load File and Run it" toolbar icon? A pulldown menu entry would also work (I would use Autohotkey to assign a Function key) Cheers, Fred |
