Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Cyclone debbie has been with us for the last 2 days, untill this morning. So the windturbine has been pretty busy for that time. Last night we heard the turbine start to make a squeaking sound, the key had broken on the blade hub ,so the hub was starting to spin on the shaft, turned the inverter off so the dumpload would kick in in the hope of stopping turbine, but it made no diffrence, the wind was just too strong, so we just went to bed, ha! Got up this morning to check the damage, and the hub had worn about 10mm off the shaft , hub n blades were just flopping around on shaft ,hitting turbine housing. Good thing we have started a new build already. We got 4 years use from it before this so cant complain too much ,
there was a spline on that shaft.Edited by flc1 2017-04-07

Hey Fred
That's a bummer, so new build will be happening sooner. Will need to get the capacitor doubler built up for you and in the post...

yea, nearly finnished, hopfully I don't have to build or rebuild another for years, had enough of spending time in the shed doing that, can think of plenty of other things i could be doing with my time.
