I know... They make this noise since 2014. But just like every other similar "entry-level" device, they are completely missing the point. This Broadcom SoC which is in the core, I can't imagine a student who will be able to learn it in details and start tinkering deep in it. If there is any documentation about it at all. So the potential "student" will quickly find themselves in the role of a "user". And yes, try to assemble one of these yourself from scratch. The "assemble it yourself" as defined by Sparkfun is stripped down to bolting together boards and plastic panels. Probably they will sell many of these, but the idea is much more consumerism and totally different from my ELLO. http://rittle.org -------------- |

Last week for the campaign and less than $800 remaining to fully funded. Please give it support if you can, so more people will end up working with MM+. Thanks! http://rittle.org -------------- |

Yes, thanks. Now my attention shifts toward the stretch goal, which will see the PIC32MZ-based machine. Only $1750 left to get there in 6 days. http://rittle.org -------------- |

Come on TBS members; kiiid needs only another $600 more to reach his 'Stretch Goal' of $16,000. Lets get the MM out there to a whole new group of people. I am not associated to Kon in any way, but I would love to see him meet his Stretch Target too for all his hard effort. PLEASE do support him collectively to raise another $600 ![]() (Sorry Gizmo if this post goes against forum rules ![]() |

The ELLO 2M project has successfully reached its funding goal, and that is great news. With only a day to go it has a good chance to reach its stretch goal, which will see the PIC32MZ-based machines out and available to everyone. There is less than $400 needed to make that happen. Please, give it a final push! https://www.crowdsupply.com/knivd/ello-2m I thank you all for the support so far. http://rittle.org -------------- |

I just ordered the "geek" version - looks just to good to pass... Do you consider an update program/path to the hacker version, once it becomes available - with a working Basic I assume it may be enough to change one PCB and keep the rest of the stack ? Another suggestion: Once you get this going, how about a "headless" version with a Web Console ? I would like something like the EMDO from swissembedded This is supposed to have a full Web frontend to a network enabled MMBasic But rather limited physical I/O I have one on order - but did not get it yet The ELLO is perfect as a standalone tool But in a PC/Tablet environment a WEB Client version makes a lot of sense This also allows the free choice of screens, keyboards and pointing devices Like we discussed in another thread, emulating a VT100 to a webpage would be enough as a starter to edit code and do simple displays Providing Basic supported graphics functionality on the Web would be even better... |

The MMBasic will run on the Hacker edition. Your guess is correct - it is only one PCB different from the current model. In fact I have been having it ready to go for a long time anyway, and it is only waiting for the MZ port to be fully ready. I am also currently preparing the 'headless' 1M model. It will be much smaller and cheaper version without battery. Once ready I will release the hardware files for the Hacker and 1M as well. A couple of days ago I also updated the current files on GitHub with all the PCBs stored in CMPCB format, which is used by the great freeware Altium Circuit Maker. http://rittle.org -------------- |

Today I updated and restructured the project in GitHub. The original project was in Altium Designer, but fortunately Altium CircuitMaker (which is free!) uses the same schematic format, and I have already exported all PCB files in CMPCB format as well. With the today's restructuring I have also released the files for ELLO 2Mē as promised if mu crowdfunding campaign reaches a certain level (which it did and passed). Released also the files for the promotional ELLO keyring in case someone is interested in that. https://github.com/knivd/ELLO-2M http://rittle.org -------------- |

Hi Bigfix we had a lot of extra work with the EMDO and the ethernet stack. It consumes so much memory that we had to move to a PIC32MZ, which resulted in lot of extra work with harmony, which is yet not the way the name suggest. It also uses a lot of io pins with a external phy. So best is to stick with harmony once it is harmonic :-( Best Dani |

The ELLO 2M computer has been shortlisted for the annual Elektra UK award for education support. It is basically the only one among the six shortlisted projects, which is not coming from a large corporation. http://rittle.org -------------- |

Ah... sorry. This is something with TBS' URL handling. Here is it again (look for "Yellow Beak Computer" in the "Educational Support Award"): http://www.elektraawards.co.uk/elektraawards2016/shortlist-2016 A big part of this I am sure is attributed to the power of MM+ http://rittle.org -------------- |

Yeah, it's rather strange. All the other links work, but even hovering over the bad one shows the incorrect URL.
http://www.thebackshed.com/forum/www.elektraawards.co.uk/elektraawards2016/shortlist-2016
Yet if I quote it in a reply I see this as the source,
annual Elektra UK
which looks correct. |

Fixed the link. When you add a link, the forum prompts you first for a name for the link, and then it asks for the actual link. The text box already has the http://, if you accidentally delete that, the link is broken. ![]() The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. JAQ |

Keep up the great work Kon. It's a brilliant design. There are 10 kinds of people in the world. Those that understand binary and those that don't. |

Merry Christmas to all! Since the ELLO's are already in distribution, I finally put together a short document to outline the specifics when used with MMBasic. This is only Addendum to Geoff's original manuals for MMBasic. In case someone here has got an ELLO, I believe they will find this pdf useful. http://rittle.org -------------- |
