Hi TassyJim. Re : Item 1. I have your timings now - see attached zip. Item 2. Now Unticked - see also zip folder. Item 3. Has been Unticked for ALL timing files. Item 4. Great! Thanks for the explanation. I hope that the files sent are OK. If not, just let me know. The SUB's listing looks a really useful window. I do use Item 1 Icon to find a highlighted SUB a lot too, but as you say it is a bit slow for a large program. ( I also found out just the other day that it finds labels too!) Is it possible to keep that window open, and just click on a name to go to it immediately? Just a thought. ( That would be a bit of a programming challenge whilst editing I guess.) Every edit is likely to change the line number for all or some labels/subs/functions. It would slow things down far too much if the list got updated for every change so, no, the list has to get remade for every request. If you have a few places you are regularly returning to, you can make use of the 'bookmarks' They are not saved with the file but should be safe from edits. Your attachment gives a 404 not found error so please upload again. Jim VK7JH MMedit MMBasic Help |

This update should shave a bit more time of loading. I haven't updated the website yet, just use the ZIP contents. MMedit.zip Jim VK7JH MMedit MMBasic Help |

Just include the 'load' results in the body a post so I know if I have done any good. I will pass the troublesome post to Gizmo for a look. Jim VK7JH MMedit MMBasic Help |

Possibly the "+" symbol in the filename |

I think the + (plus) symbol in the file name is the problem. Try uploading again, but first remove the + symbol. Let me know. Glenn The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the second best time is right now. JAQ |

Hi, Sorry about the "+" - now replaced. Hope this works OK. Both Load and Save are now really fast - thanks TassyJim. I suffer random power failures due to an over-sensitive RCD, which will blackout the whole house at the slightest provocation, like occasionally someone turning off a wall switch. (Though not every time.) Having a fast save means I can save conveniently at will, rather than only occasionally. Good to hear the fast load and save times. I can't do much more with the 'find subs' times. As a comparison my 5 year old PC can find subs at about 9000 lines / second I will keep fiddling... Jim VK7JH MMedit MMBasic Help |

Hi TassyJim and disco4now, 9000 lines/sec - that's slightly faster than mine !! (300 lines/sec.) Wife and stepson keep saying I need a modern machine - I suppose it's showing its age at times like this. I find MMEdit still tends to forget the current line when opening another window, then returning. It doesn't always happen but is quite a frequent occurrence. Any possible solution to the "double space" hiccup mentioned earlier disco4now ? With regards, Paul. Edited 2021-05-12 09:04 by Bowden_P Nothing so constant as change. |

the "double space" hiccup would be difficult to 'fix'. It would be easier to remember to only use a single space in the definition To stop forgetting the line when returning from another window, click on the window titlebar or toolbar icon rather than inside the edit space. There are a few times when you have to click twice when returning which is something that I can't fix - I have tried. Jim VK7JH MMedit MMBasic Help |

Hi TassyJim, When changing between windows my preferred method is to click the tab at the bottom of the screen, not in the window. I set the window sizes to just expose the "Start" tab and the window tabs, but line amnesia remains a niggle. The odd thing is that any text that was highlighted does remain highlighted, not forgotten. Moving up or down using the useful bookmarks works correctly from the line, so MMEdit knows where it is, but doesn't always want to admit it! I'll remember about my "double space" error - thanks for considering it. With regards, Paul. Nothing so constant as change. |

Hi TassyJim, MMEdit seems to be missing finding the #REPLACE syntax file "Micromite_Plus_V5.3#". It no longer appears under the syntax selection tab, and #REPLACE has stopped being recognised as a keyword in program code. The file is in the folder as shown in Help - Configuration Report :- "C:\Documents and Settings\Paul\Local Settings\Application Data\CCom\MMedit" Disco4now's other 2 syntax files are also there, but not listed either. The #REPLACE as an external program continues to work, and is shown in the Config Report. Have I broken something? With regards, Paul. Nothing so constant as change. |

Version 4 of MMEdit changed the way syntax files are done. I can convert Gerry's syntax files to the new format which will do the highlighting (given a few days) but I am not in a position to create any HTML help files. The highlighting is only a visual effect and dons not do anything to the files. It is not needed. Just select a syntax that matches your device. Jim VK7JH MMedit MMBasic Help |

Hi TassyJim, I would be really pleased to see Gerry's syntax included - thanks for your generousity. There's maybe others too - although I can only speak for myself, and I appreciate that it is cosmetic rather than functional ! I'm sure I'm not alone in appreciating your time and work you put in to MMEdit, and certainly the help you have given me - so I'll be happy whenever you can manage it ! With thanks, Paul. Paul, extract the 3 *.tkn files from the attached ZIP and place them in your data folder. You will also need to update the MMEdit.tkn file in the program folder to read the files correctly. Restart MMEdit and you will have the syntax file available. Gerry, The ZIP also contains a rough PureBasic file I used to extract the keyword lists from your dta files. This is the format required for MMEdit V4x syntaxfiles.zip I will update the version of MMEdit on my website later. The version currently there will have trouble reading the tkn files.
