Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Just wondering if anyone here can tell me if this software will run on a rPi.

Posted this in the Solar forum, but no response yet.

Even better, but a big ask is if someone could confirm it will at least load.

Giantpower, in this instance:-
Platforms supported by software are listed below:

Ø Windows 2003/XP/Vista/2008 (32bit &x64bit)
Ø Windows 7/8 (32bit& x64bit)

Ø RedHat Linux 8,9
Ø Linux RedHat Enterprise AS3, AS5, AS6(32bit &64bit)
Ø Linux SUSE 10 (32bit &64bit)
Ø Linux Cent OS 5.4 (32bit &64bit)
Ø Ubuntu 8.x,9.x,10.x (32bit &64bit)
Ø Linux Fedora 5
Ø Linux OpenSUSE 11.2 (32bit &64bit)
Ø Linux Debian 5.x, 6.x (32bit &64bit)

Ø Mac OS 10.6(x64bit)
Ø Mac OS 10.7(x64bit)
Ø Mac OS 10.8(x64bit)
The Version I received does not have a windows installer & the manual states it's a portable app & just needs dropping in a directory to run.

That all works out fine on Windows.

On the Ubuntu box, same seemed to apply, download the archive, dig out the software folder from a few levels down, then just run the executable.

I get the impression that there my be a different launch procedure required on an rPi.

I'm no Linux Guru by any measure, more a case of running it with training wheels.

Phil.

Edit,

Another link to a different vendor.

Phil

Edit:-

I see there are different OS's here and should of mentioned mine (3) is running the default Raspian install from NoobsEdited by Phil23 2018-01-07

A bit odd... the link in the other forum is to a Windows executable and nothing else - so no.

Yet there is mention of a manual that lists various Linux versions.

Provide more info / URLs?

Or use some open source (MPPT?) software and be done with the hassle of proprietary (is it?)?

Opps,

Wrong thing in the clipboard when I posed the link.

The other thread is just over on the Solar Forum here.

The link the manufacturers provided for software etc is this.

Just a directory listing to download from.

Has both 32 & 64 bit Linux version, which I did manage to fire up on a Ubuntu box I have, but following a similar process didn't work on the rPi.

That's where I'm wondering if I need a different distribution, but don't know enough of the Linux world to go any further.

Have also notices that there is a Ubuntu Dist for the Pi too.

You will probably have to compile for the source to run it on a RPi
I expect all the precompiled ones are for x86, not ARM processors

I think the link is here

And looks x86 so would at least need a recompile.

Thanks Jim & John,

That's probably what I should have asked, whether a different compile was required for rPi.

Partially had things like CumulusMX in my head that run on multiple platforms.
Completely different beast though.

Phil.
