Hi DEX users (Bigmik) I just use DEX mainly for Schematics (mainly line art) & simple drawings. Quite often, when moving / deleting objects, I find an underlying copy or copies of the object. Yesterday I was moving stuff around & found four copies of the objects on top of each other. The objects had previously been copied & pasted. This morning I was doing something with the mouse & 4 copies of a bit of text popped up on the drawing. I couldn't replicate what I was doing. For the life of me, I can't work out what I am doing or did to get the copies. HELP was no help. Has anyone got any ideas? Brian ChopperP |

Hi Brian, Surely I am not the ONLY DEX user here? ![]() Actually I rarely use copy and paste and if i do i generally I cock things up, My assumption is that you pasted and thought that nothing happened and then pasted again and again.. and each time it pasted over the top of the original.. I understand if you have a small circuit of several parts that you want to duplicate that copy/paste will be of great use but as my designs are rarely copies of the same stage I find I just as easily add new parts.. Sorry I cant be of more help.. Try the DEX forum maybe? Regards, Mick Mick's uMite Stuff can be found >>> HERE (Kindly hosted by Dontronics) <<< |

Hi Mick Yes, it could be as simple as a double click on the mouse button. Might try another one. Bad cold ATM. Brain not working too good either. Thanks Brian ChopperP |

Like Mick, I would usually paste a new part from the library or create it if not a part. Unlike Mick, I am a rank amateur with DEX Can you zip up a project that has the problem and we can have a look at it. Jim VK7JH MMedit |

Hi Jim I'm just using it to draw some stuff. Not using it for a "Real" project as such. A lot of copying & pasting. Just wondering if anyone has come across duplicates before. It's a "good" feature if I knew how I was doing it. Brian ChopperP |

If you are using an ordinary mouse, if possible try another mouse and see if that makes any difference. In case you are using a laptop with touch pad, if you can, again try a mouse. If you have some configuration setup that is giving intermittent trouble by far the best is to save a "project file" and make it available so others can try it out. DEX because it saves 'everything' in one file is absolutely great for sharing files for testing. My estimate it can save time by a factor of 10 getting to the bottom of sneaky problems. I found out that it is not possible to share the file via Forum here. So it is a bit slower having to use email or other means. ![]() |

To share it here, you have to put the project file into a ZIP. Jim VK7JH MMedit |

Update I swapped the mouse over. Moving stuff & general mouse work in DEX was worse. Adjusted Mouse settings. Bit better but still unworkable. Tried yet another mouse & set it up. Much better. All things seem to be working as they should. No sign of unwanted duplicates etc. DEX & mouse behaving normally. Also had a problem with DEX not retaining the correct Schematic page sizes on save. Had one A3 & 4, A4's in the project. The A4's always reverted to A3. Worked my way through the #$%%^& menu system DEX has & found & set the project default size to A4. That seemed to work. The sheet larger than A4 still retained its correct size. Thanks for the replies Brian ChopperP |
