Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

A mate of mine linked me to this today, and it is really apt.

Why do we do this to ourselves? (rhetorical!)Edited by Grogster 2018-11-24
Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops!

That's a very good explanation of why we moved 75 miles north of NYC where our neighbors are 120 Holstein cows.

As a retired person (and one whose favorite commute was 20 feet down the hall from my kitchen to my office), all I can say is "SUCKERS!".

(But on the day after the fourth Thursday in November, I'm thankful for all worldwide who have worked to put food on my table and micromites on my desk.)

When I retired I swapped the hustle and bustle of the big city (Sydney) for a small community 60 Km north of Townsville. We live on a secluded tropical beach, it really is paradise. I have no desire to ever visit the rat race again.

15 years ago we bought this 85 acre farm and have been living off the grid ever since. Got my own 12x11 metre shed on it's own power array along with a fully equipped machineshop.

Power and water bills what are they as it has been that long since we have seen one and I do remember back in the day folks thought we must of lived in a cave as we didn't have mains power or water.

Now it seems we arent in the back blocks but indeed in the centre and working in the country traffic lights are a rarity.

Happiness is when a storm comes around we like to start a FB thread 'which town loses power first' and laugh at all those folks that thought we lived in a cave.

On this mornings walk we stopped so the neighbour's sheep could play with our dogs.
The sheep gets annoyed if we walk past without stopping for a bit.

Yesterday, on the way home from town, there were a dozen alpacas on the road. 3 other cars stopped and we all herded them into a paddock.

Life doesn't need to get more exciting than that.

LOL I have a ton of people to forward this too.

I do miss life on the farm and the "community" that came with it.

Aaah retirement. I only have 9 years to go, or first division. Whichever comes first

Are you planning to clone yourself and leave one of you working?

....Mmmmm...That's an option....But I've only just started with Arduino so think the code for that is still a while away . SO until then, I'll keep investing towards LOTO first division. Apparently, if you can live ro 1,400,000 years of age, then statistically you will hit the first prize. Better quit smoking....
