Question for Tassy jim
I have recently downloaded the latest version of mmedit MK2 V5.1 onto XP desktop
The previous one worked ok
when I try to load a program the Upload window comes on and
displays "sending documents and settings"
Blocks : 64
X modem receive
Error invalid syntax.

I can connect and read the maximite ok
I have removed the original one so cannot go back to that but I do have a copy on my Laptop
your help would be appreciated
Jeff

Hi
Just quick question. Do you have the MM Edit Syntax set for Maximite_V4.5? I've been caught a few times with the wrong setting.

I did reply in the other sub-forum
Quote  I am not sure which version of MMEdit you are running.
MK2 V5.1 refers to a micromite syntax file, not MMEdit version number.

You have to use the correct syntax file to suit your device. The message "X modem receive Error invalid syntax." suggests that the syntax does not match your device.

I just posted a new(ish) version of MMEdit onto my website but I don't think you are running that version.

Jim

I do think that Brian is right. You need to select the correct syntax file. I used to try and auto-detect devices but it got too unreliable (and slow)

Thanks for your replies .I really appreciate the fast response
I noticed that micromite was shown but didn't know I had to change it to maximite
You were right all going good now.
Whilst I have your attention you may have an answer for the reason I cannot find a com port in mmedit. I switch to teraterm and its there ok so I switch back to mmedit and it appears in the list ok it then runs ok .This usually happens when I switch off the maximite for some reason

If you turn off the Maximite while MMEdit is connect to it with MMChat, the port will stop working.
There is nothing I can do about it.
Sorry

Hi Jeff

Glad you got that problem sorted out.

The Com ports with W10, MMEdit & the CMM are a PITA to put it mildly. I'm always losing it (in more ways that one).

Not sure what the real answer is. I usually jig around with stuff until it reconnects. I often have to check Device Manager to make sure the port is still there & then use the re-connect feature in MM Edit. Unplugging & plugging back in sometimes helps. Obviously, you can't have MM Edit & Tera Term connected at the same time.

I also have to remember not to leave the Chat Window open too long, as MM Edit locks up & I have to reboot it.

Hopefully Jim may have more helpful solutions.

Good luck.

Brian

@Jim

Please don't think I was blaming MM Edit for my connection problems. I regularly lose my mouse as well.
