Hello all,
I have a very numerate eight year old grandson. I'm thinking of making a MM version of the TV show "Letters and Numbers", well, just the numbers part, to amuse and extend (us both).
Rather than starting from scratch I'm checking to see if any shedders have come across any BASIC versions etc.
(yes, I know there are versions on the WWW but I'm thinking of a 5V powered simple version with an LCD (possibly not touch but with button(s) to choose between using "x" and "/" or just "=" and "-" and other options).

He would select the mix of numbers, the MM would present them, and the target, and "somehow" display the solution (possibly after button presses and/or holds).

Any comments?

Andrew

It is something I thought about.
I like the show. Keeps the grey mater working.

For the shedders in the motherland, the show is "Countdown"

Hi Jim,

Yes but I, naturally, prefer the Aus. version, copied from UK. David Astle is a local and of course Lily is Lily (Richard is OK too). The UK adaption of the original, "8 out of 10 Cats does Countdown", has too many sexist "comedians" for my simple tastes.

It should be easy enough to randomly assign the parameters and operands but it will be tricky to present the workings and results . . .

Cheers,

Andrew

[Edit: I've just looked at a few more of the UK "8 out of 10..." shows and they are quite funny but they do take the "mickey" out of the Lily equiv. a little too much - AG] Edited by Andrew_G 2019-05-04
