There are a couple of fairly recently introduced STM32F411/401 compact development DIP modules from China and possibly cheaper than Microchips PIC32MX170 chips. 411 has 512K Flash and 128K Ram, 401 has 256K Flash and 64K Ram. On board USB new C type connector, crystal oscillators for main clock(100Mhz) and RTC. PCB has pads for 8pin expanding flash memory. These boards are supported by Arduino and Micropython. Question for Peter M. Are you considering porting MMbasic to these? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000109646917.html?gps-id=pcDetailBottomMoreOtherSeller&scm=1007.13338.146400.0&scm_id=1007.13338.146400.0&scm-url=1007.13338.146400.0&pvid=3fcc310f-1a8f-4fdf-af05-43232e441941 Edited 2019-12-15 16:39 by JohnL |

I really don't understand this pricing... (shakes head) STM32F411CEU6 chips at Digikey: $2,943.08 for 1000 chips, $5.57 for singles. Yet here is a mounted, ready to use dev board for $4.13. How does that work? Are these the dud chips that STM QA threw out for non-conformance? MCU-Anonymous indeed. My name is vegipete. I am an mcu-aholic... I can barely type on the computer because there are too many dev boards in my way. Visit Vegipete's *Mite Library for cool programs. |

often these sorts of devices, if genuine, are from part-reels. when a production run of a PCB is finished, any partially used reels of non-generic components left over may be discarded by the contract manufacturer because they: 1. can no longer guarantee the parts are moisture free (many IC's should be used within a certain time of the packaging being opened), or, 2. doesn't wish to hold part-reels in stock for inventory control reasons, or, 3. the parts are too specialized to warrant keeping hold of them, or, 4. simply because too few parts are left on the reel. in china, these part-reels will often end up being be passed on to component brokers, who will on-sell them to 2nd tier contract manufacturers for a fraction of the original price. cheers, rob :-) |

These have a USB-C connector. Not micro USB or mini USB/ I cannot find the 5V->3.3V voltage regulator (the small SOT23?). As to prices … these are all the result of negotiation and package deals. Prices in distribution are double or more the price you get as a mfgr. Edited 2019-12-16 18:30 by Volhout PicomiteVGA PETSCII ROBOTS |
