I recently obtained a Flashforge Finder 3D printer and needed to "produce something usefull" to prove to the other half it could actually do something Accordingly, I created some .stl 3D files using FreeCAD for the front and rear panels and top and bottom cases. It took a couple of goes to "get it right" but I am happy with end result although you need to be EXTREMELY patient as a full was nearly 24 hours of printing!!! The front decal was created in Adobe Illustrator, printed on glossy photo paper and glued to the front face. I am happy to provide the CAD files for anyone who wants them. Awesome work @panky! Printing a case with the right height stand-offs would also mean no need to fiddle around with 5mm spacers! Nice work on the front panel too. All looks like a nicely finished CMM2. For the project cases I make with my 3D printer, I got myself those little M3 knurled brass nut inserts which can be pushed into the 3D printed holes to provide a really nice quality screw together finish. |

They do look good panky. They appear to have a quite a good finish. Any chance of posting your printer settings please? Layer Height, shell thickness, print speed etc etc. Thanks. Brian ChopperP |

Looks great! (Better than my Dremel effort.) Are you still waiting on that board mounted switch to arrive by any chance?! (I ended up switching mine out, pun intended) Link: YouTube Colour MaxiMite 2 Intro Video | ctrix.net |

For some reason, I didn't find this when searching the forum, so wound up doing my own... Wasted a half a day designing and printing, when you already had it here the whole time. I like how your case emulates the commercial versions, where the one I put together is "different"... Did you wind up putting your STL files somewhere folks can get to them? I guess we've now got a couple options for folks with 3D printers... My posting is at http://www.thebackshed.com/forum/ViewTopic.php?PID=151062#151062 |
