Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

I was thinking it would be useful to have a journal/log/diary type program, the idea being you start the program and enter text, it time and date stamps the text and these can be saved as text files on the SD card, with optional tags/title for searching.

This could be a useful little utility for any number of uses:
Recording general daily events
Logs for work/hobbies/projects
Dates of purchases and details like serial numbers etc.
Storing important information and reference material.
And so on.

Kind of like a notepad, not relying on a PC, quick and efficient to use.

Has anyone programmed  anything similar? I’m thinking of trying, although I have no idea where to start yet (only had my CMM2 since yesterday)

Thanks

You might like to consider the fact that the CMM2 provides no out-of-the-box printing or networking unless you're intending to do a lot of stuff on the hardware side too.

I guess for printing if needed I could pop the card in the PC, in which case it could be argued well why not create them on the PC in the first place?

Well, my CMM2 is in my workshop room (aka the cave) it is quick to turn on to take a quick note, no fuss, I don't have the room for and I don't want a PC in there.

I don't need any networking or anything fancy, so I thought that since it has some useful commands like time and date stamps and RTC it might make a nice little solution for log/note/memo taking.
