I'm glad to see that they went with the blue PCB to match the Waveshare board. I think that their front panel looks nice but if you want to match the photos you can get the artwork from the Construction Pack. Geoff Geoff Graham - http://geoffg.net |

Thanks Geoff, I'll check it out! The panels are actually pieces of PCB they had printed and cut for the kit. Very solid. I didn't realise and thought they were just pieces of card or thin plastic. Edited 2020-08-10 15:14 by HellbentHorse |

Shame though that the front panel is monochrome, unlike the coloured version in the mag article? Bill |

Unfortunately not. Not a huge deal breaker for me personally but still a little disappointing from a completionist sense. |

Yeah it is a bit. I'm tempted to just paint inside the stripes with the colours at some stage.. |

I am going to see about making a small sticker that I can put over the Mono logo on mine. I think I can get the immage from the construction kit. If I get something printable on an inkjet or color lazer I will post. I can get printable lable stock. |

It took all of 5 min from the constrution kit to cut, past, resize and some dubble sided tape and mine looks pretty nice. logo.zip NOW IT HAVE A PAGE FULL OF THEM. I put my extras in the folder I am building for the CMM2. |

I also produce PCB-type front and rear panels for my ones, and you are limited to white-only silkscreen in most PCB processes. About the only exception to that that I can think of, is that white boards will have a black silkscreen, but black silkscreen on a black soldermask would be a bit silly. ![]() So, that basically means, you are limited to a B/W panel design. Basically, no PCB houses offer multi-colour silkscreen - that I am aware of. If any did, I would expect it to be expensive, so the cut/paste/resize method is probably still the best way forward. Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

Yeah that makes a lot of sense Grogster. To be honest at the end of the day I'm about the hardware and what I can do with it, it could be in a cardboard box for all I care as long as I can play with this little machine! I can always loop back around to the aesthetics in the future if the bug bites me. |

I like the black and white. The only thing that bothers me is it says "Colour" instead of "Color." |

A quick update for anyone considering ordering the kit from Silicon Chip. I emailed them to confirm about the IR reciever which was not included in the kit. Their official response was: |

Hi Berightous, It is payback for us having to see COLOR instead of COLOUR for years. And TIRE instead of TYRE.. and being a predominately ENGLISH and AUSTRALIAN designed product you wouldn't expect it to be written in a foreign language would you? Crikey, and you still say you speak ENGLISH.. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Kind Regards Mick Mick's uMite Stuff can be found >>> HERE (Kindly hosted by Dontronics) <<< |

Noah Webster has alot to answer for ![]() At least the CMM2 dialect of Basic allows either spelling and the case front is easily replaceable with a region appropriate logo/sticker ![]() |
