Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Does the Color Maximite 2 also support the similar to MOD music module types IT, XM, and S3M?

I tried loading XM and it didn't accept it. I tried renaming .xm files to .mod, and it still didnt work, unfortunately. Other's in here may have more experience with these file types than me, so perhaps they may have better luck.

From what i know about tracker files , every have his own file format.
You cant just rename the extension because in the file itself it's very different
Australia is so far away that i'm still waiting for my CMM2 after 1 month , so if you can convert you tracker file into mod and can test it , i'm interesting too on your results.

Cheers.

I figured that's the case. I tried converting them but generally they weren't compatible with the programs I tried. I didnt try for very long though...

Elsewhere on the forum Peter stated:
matherp said  The firmware uses an open-source mod file codec which seems pretty robust but may not cater for all variants. It has been tested using a 284Kbyte mod file which works fine. You will have to test mod files for compatibility before use in a program

Looks like a case for experimenting, and your mileage may vary.

I've tested MOD files with about 2048 Kb and works fine.

In the OpenMPT track editor, if you don't want a headache, you must enable the options:

Type: ProTracker MOD

Enable on PlayBack options:
- ProTracker 1/2 Mode (MOD)
- Amiga Frequency Limits

Otherwise, you can get distorted sounds or bad notes.

This was something that annoyed me when converting Final Fight SNES music because I had not enabled these options (only Protracker type) and all my music work was blown away (I must remake all now). This is the cause that in my Final Fight first video on YouTube has distorted notes on the music.

I have a mod file that seems to play incorrectly on the CMM2. Notes that are supposed to turn off, don't, and it ends up being a long pitch changing sound rather than multiple notes that are changing pitch.

You know what I might do actually... I might use wav's for the music, and use mod files for sound effects. It sounds backwards, but at the end of the day, you can record a mod file to wave and it'll sound exactly how you expect. Then you can use mod tracker software to create sound effects... Might give this a go..

Open this MOD on OpenMPT and use the options that I mentioned before. If the music plays wrong on the PC like the CMM2, then this MOD file isnīt 100% ProTracker compatible.

The CMM2 will only play correctly MOD files that are fully compatible with ProTracker and doesnīt include notes out of range.

I would like if CMM2 could play XM or at least a MOD file with the extended specification, then the SNES music conversion could be translated 100% easily with an automated way, including too the MIDI files translation on OpenMPT with any type of instrument packs.

Yeh, it was heavily incompatible. It ruined the song lol.

I wanna try your Demo X on my CMM2, Mauro Xavier. When you gonna release for download?

I didnīt launch yet because it broked some animations in the new firmware after Peter makes some optimizations, even with so strict timed routines.

It was so unexpected because I tried to make it compatible with the 480Mhz CMM2, and with this higher performance good surprise of the new firmware, It helped me to understand some differences that now I can fix to run with any CPU power (I guess)... The car scene is most culprit ;)

I must change too some little blocks to use the new commands that were created after I developed Demo X. I believe I can make some effects smoother.

Anyway, this weekend I intend to release it in GitHub.
