1 When testing for 180 mA or thereabouts, I got 196 mA so within 10% which I assumed OK 2 I found I had to carefully drill out the LED front panel holes to 4mm (the twin LED module protrudes slightly from the motherboard). 3 Re mounting to the case using 3mm screws and spacers (per the SC article), I used my old CMM (1) case and used the self-tappers. Fitted perfectly. 4 I found it useful to file a light chamfer at the bottom ends of the front panel to aid in slotting it in just after the back panel started.. 5 I only just finished the hardware yesterday, so after work I’ll get on further. I am wondering if in the Silicon Chip version of the kit all the firmware is already loaded on the various chips, so I won’t need that part. Senior?! Whatever it says, I'm a complete and utter beginner... |

My kit was the v3 pcb kit from micromite.org in the UK and did not come with a Waveshare board. I therefore had to flash the initial firmware, and also update the software on the MCP2221A. This was very straight forward using the instructions contained in the Construction Pack which can be downloaded from Geoff's website, details can also be found in the CMM2 User Guide located at the same website. I initially flashed the Waveshare before installing it onto the CMM2 board as I had a suitable cable handy. You should have no problems from a Windows machine. If you do experience problems with your build, one of the first things to check is the voltges present between the USB-B case (-ve) and the 5VIN and 3.3V pins (+ve) on the Waveshare. If they appear out of spec it is worth trying a different USB-A to USB-B cable. Solved many problems with the keyboard and audio for me. Welcome to the community, and have fun coding on this excellent machine. Regards Womble Edited 2020-08-17 06:35 by Womble |
